Kenya politics-Orange Democratic Party heading for a split

ODM party registers amid cries from the deputy party  leader-Musalia Mudavadi a key presidential contender

Orange Democratic Movement party has just presented its registration papers to the registrar of parties. This is in earnest to meet the rapidly nearing deadline. And conform to the Political Parties Act 2011.Contrary to this the party would have been locked out of the next general elections. The papers have been submitted despite the  key issues which have been causing jitters  within the party ranks being unresolved.

The party constitution  which advocates for the direct nomination of the party leader as the presidential candidate was among the documents surrendered to the registrar. This advocacy has put the two senior most at loggerheads with the deputy pushing for amendment of the clauses to be able to contest the party nomination ticket.
More rift within the party is eminent given the current disagreements. A legal committee which had been formed to iron out the amendments before the registration has failed to meet for the key deliberation. It is reported that ,a meeting called by the committee chairman failed to materialize, astonishingly with the convener failing to show up.

The Deputy leader side met single handedly, with a claim that the premier’s side is inclined to sabotaging the committees mandate. This has caused more rift, with the deputy prime minister allegedly purporting to leave the party.
